Broadway’s Michael Jackson Musical to Hold National Auditions for Actors to Play Title Role Alongside Ephraim Sykes

January 6th, 2020 | By Andy Lefkowitz

The upcoming Michael Jackson bio-musical MJ has announced a national casting call for actors to take on the title role at various points in his life. These auditions have been scheduled on the heels of the recently announced star casting of Tony nominee Ephraim Sykes as Michael Jackson.

In addition to performers to play Jackson throughout his life, actors are also being sought to understudy the role of the music icon. Candidates are being asked to possess the singing and dancing chops necessary for the role. Those interested in auditioning can find more information here.

As previously announced, MJ will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of Jackson’s song catalogue. Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph.

The production will begin previews on July 6, 2020 and officially open on August 13 at the Neil Simon Theatre.
